Sadly for long-term viewers, this season will mark the end of Vera's 13-year run on ITV, with Brenda Blethyn bidding farewell to her character Vera Stanhope. Vera season 14 comprises the two final episodes, with the first episode airing on New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1, at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
The second episode will premiere on Thursday, January 2, in the same timeslot on ITV and ITVX. Vera season 14 will naturally be led by actress Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope, a role she has embodied since the show's inception in 2011. The 78-year-old will be joined once again by actor David Leon as Joe Ashworth, Rhiannon Clements as Detective Steph Duncan and former Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati as Chief Superintendent Khalon.
In addition to these main characters, Riley Jones will return as DC Mark Edwards, Sarah Kameela Impey as Dr Paula Bennett and Jon Morrison as DC Kenny Lockhart. So far, no cast members have been announced for the second episode of season 14, as per IMDb.
