Viewers of the ITV drama Playing Nice were left fuming after the latest episode, thanks to the 'evil' antics of Miles Lambert, portrayed by James McArdle. The third part of James Norton's psychological thriller set in Cornwall aired on Sunday evening (January 12), continuing the story of his character Pete's struggle for his son Theo.
The plot revolves around two couples who find out their sons were switched at birth due to a horrific hospital error. The ensuing dilemma is chilling - do they keep the sons they've raised and love deeply, or reclaim their biological child? As the drama between the couples escalates, the situation turns into a living nightmare.
In the third episode, Pete is released after police questioning about Theo's alleged abduction. His partner Maddie, played by Niamh Algar, accuses Pete of intentionally switching the babies, leaving him devastated. Pete then loses his job when Miles leaks his personal diary to the press. He travels to Scotland to uncover information about Miles' past, hoping it will impact the custody battle for Theo and David, reports Cornwall Live.
He encounters Miles' mother Edith, played by Maureen Beattie, who appears terrified at the mere mention of her son and reveals that Miles had a brother who died. Later in the episode, the court grants the ruthless Miles and his wife Lucy, played by Jessica Brown Findlay, temporary custody of both boys, with another court date pending.
