Jake Paul has broken his silence on Canelo Alvarez snubbing a fight with him in favour of signing a four-fight Saudi deal. It was confirmed on Friday that that the Mexican superstar has agreed on a four-fight deal with Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Season, with his new deal to include a mega-fight against the former undisputed light-welterweight and welterweight champion Terence Crawford in September. Previously, it was understood that Alvarez and Paul were close to finalising their crossover fight, but according to Saudi's boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, the Mexican has taken another bout with an unknown opponent in May.
Furthermore, in the X post, Alalshikh appeared to slam Paul, writing: 'The Deal is done... A Lion doesn't lose sleep over opinion of a sheep... Fear the lion not the jungle.'. Canelo quickly reposted the announcement, captioning it with: 'Let's go brother,' accompanied by a fist emoji. Paul has now taken to social media to launch his own rant, bizarrely branding his rival 'an owned slave' who will 'lose money' by opting not to right him.
Jake Paul (pictured) has broken his silence on being snubbed by Canelo Alvarez for a fight. Paul launched an astonishing social media rant where he branded Alvarez 'an owned slave'. The post also included an AI-generated images of Paul standing over his rival in the ring. 'Breaking news: Canelo Alvarez ducked me Jake Paul and is now an owned slave with no regard for the pride of the Mexican people who support him on US soil,' the post, which also included an AI-generated image of Paul standing over Alvarez in a boxing ring, began. 'It's not surprising when his whole career he has done nothing for the sport of boxing outside the ring.
'I'm the new face of boxing. You cannot have the biggest fight of 2025 without my name involved. When all of your events tank and lose money you will all realize who the king of the sport is. '28 years old. Biggest fight in boxing history. My own boss. Not owned. 5 years in. All of you felines want to see me fail, but god has other plans. It's the era of good. The era of the elephant. It's the era of MVP.'.
Earlier this week, the Mexican's deal with Crawford appeared to have collapsed after he reportedly entered discussions with Paul. On Monday, 'The Problem Child' even published an X post hinting at the potential fight date with Alvarez, writing: 'It's time. Sat July 5th. New York, New York.'. Paul has, in the past, called out Canelo on a number of occasions. Last year, following his bout with Ryan Bourland, Paul told the four-weight world champion to 'stop ducking' him.
The American has not fought since his controversial win against former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in November, defeating the boxing legend via a unanimous decision. Meanwhile, Alvarez - with 66 fights and 62 wins - was last seen in a boxing ring during his victory over Edgar Berlanga in September last year. Alvarez has signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, with bouts to take place over the next two years.
Paul, who has not fought since beating Mike Tyson, had teased a date to take on Alvarez. Alvarez's deal includes a mega-fight vs WBA light middleweight champion Terence Crawford. According to Ring Magazine, Canelo and Riyadh Season's deal includes a fight in Riyadh in May, a mega clash in Las Vegas with Terence Crawford in September, and two more boxing matches in Riyadh in February and October 2026. His next opponent, Crawford, remains undefeated with 41 wins, including 31 via knockout.
