Jake Paul has hit out at John Fury, claiming he's the main reason as to why the rematch with Tommy Fury is yet to materialise. Over the last few weeks, the pair have gone back-and-forth online amid talks of a potential sequel. The two boxing stars went head-to-head back in February 2023 in Saudi Arabia. In a closely fought contest, Fury would go on to hand Paul the first loss of his professional career, winning via split decision.
Fury's last fight inside the squared-circle took place back in October 2023 when he defeated YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI on points. As for 'The Problem Child,' the 28-year-old has been fairly active in the ring following his defeat. He has since defeated Nate Diaz, Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Mike Perry and Mike Tyson. However, Paul has now revealed he was due to take on Fury instead of Tyson last November, but claims the Brit received bad advice from his father, John. Speaking on RING CHAMPS, he said: "He was supposed to be the original person on Netflix (in November) and he thought he was worth more money. His 'dadager' is a f*****g idiot.
"It's bad and I feel bad. He's (Tommy) is somewhat of an airhead and he's listening to his father who is also an airhead. So, he's going to turn down the biggest payday of his life, the most viewed fight of his life... and just ego. It's just typical boxing.". In the same interview, Paul did have some respectful words for his former fore, claiming he's the hardest hitting puncher he's ever faced. "Probably Tommy. I think more so his timing," he said. "I think timing is more important than anything. Tyron (Woodley) was strong, Mike Tyson was strong, but Tommy had better timing and better placement of punches.".
Talks have ramped up regarding a potential sequel, with Fury very much open to facing Paul in the ring again. "Right, so I've just woke up and seen Logan Paul talk on his podcast yet again about how I don't want to fight Jake and that I'm running scared. I've seen Jake tweet the other day about how he offered me x,y,z on Netflix. I just wanted to come on here and say that no one here is running from this fight," Fury said.
"I've beat you once already, I handed you your first loss. The minute you stepped in there with a real boxer... you lost fair and square. I can give you a second loss, that's not a problem. But let's talk some serious numbers down the phone. If you want to get touch, you know where I am. It's as easy as that. I can come back after a year and beat the pair of you. At the end of the day, if you want to fight, let's talk some serious numbers... you know where I am.".
