Tottenham midfielder James Maddison accepted the team hasn't been good enough after another defeat saw manager Ange Postecoglou come under even more pressure. Postecoglou's team fell 3-0 down before half-time against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday. Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison pulled goals back after the break, but it was too little, too late.

The result leaves Spurs down in 15th, just eight points clear of the relegation zone. They have picked up just one point from their last six Premier League outings, conceding 16 times during that run. Former Celtic boss Postecoglou took issue with the line of questioning in a BBC interview after the latest loss. Maddison, however, has simply focused on where the team has been lacking.

“We're in a tough moment," Maddison told club media. "I've not got too much to say, to be honest. The squad's a bit depleted but the first half was nowhere near good enough. When asked about the club's injury list, he said: "It's never ideal, but it doesn't explain the 3-0 scoreline at half-time. We've just got to be stronger and defend better and be more resilient. With everything considered it's a tough moment, and through a bit of adversity we've got to stick together and grind it out, it's the only way.".

The former Leicester star added: "The fans are going to be rightly disappointed. We've got to take that criticism on the chin, all of us. They're entitled to their opinion - a few unhappy fans in the away end there, and rightly so. You've got to own up to it, you've got to accept that we weren't good enough and take that criticism on the chin.".
