JAMIE CARRAGHER'S son could abandon any hope of playing for England after a citizenship ruling.
James Carragher spent six years in the Liverpool youth academy before leaving for Wigan Athletic in 2017.
The Times of Malta have claimed that Carragher was first granted citizenship due to his Maltese mother and grandfather.
James Carragher is proving to be a useful player at Wigan and was handed a new contract in October.
President Bjorn Vassallo revealed that James is "open" to playing for Malta.
