Hollywood icon Jennifer Lopez, 55, has become well known for her acting skills alongside her singing, but - despite good reviews from critics - her latest movie didn't make a wave on its theatrical release. Unstoppable was released in UK cinemas on December 6, and tells the true story of Anthony Robles, who became a champion wrestler despite being born with only one leg. JLo played Anthony’s mum, Judy Robles, in the film, which was co-produced by her ex-husband Ben Affleck, 52.

Despite its all-star cast and compelling plot, Unstoppable wasn’t a hit at the box office. It was only the 55th most-watched film in UK cinemas on its release this month, and made just £3,112 during its opening weekend, according to The Sun, before dropping out of cinemas less than two weeks in. Unstoppable is now set to be available on Prime Video on January 16, 2025.

However, an insider claimed that this was always the plan for the film, and that the cast and crew have their eyes set on awards rather than cinema tickets. They explained: "The film Unstoppable was released for one week in order to qualify for Awards e.g Oscars. A lot of streamer films do this in order to be able to qualify for nominations and why there was no fanfare or premiere.

"It is simply a qualifying run. Unstoppable's official release is Thursday January 16th on Amazon Prime Video worldwide." The insider added that placing films in cinemas for a qualifying run is "standard practice" in order to allow them to be considered for major accolades.
