Jets star Garrett Wilson 'expected to request a trade' after nightmare season with Aaron Rodgers

New York Jets star Garrett Wilson could be about to request a trade. The Jets have missed the playoffs once again, despite quarterback Aaron Rodgers staying healthy enough to play every game. Now, ESPN reporter Rich Cimini has said on his podcast that he thinks the young wide receiver Wilson wants to leave New York in the offseason.
'I talk to people in Garrett Wilson's circle. They think - now I want to emphasize this is speculation on their part - they think he will ask for a trade after the season,' Cimini said. 'Again, speculative, by people who know him. We don't know that to be a fact.'.
The Jets are 4-11 going into Sunday's game at MetLife Stadium against the playoff-chasing Los Angeles Rams. Whatever happens with Wilson's future, the offseason will be a significant period of transition for the Jets. The organization will appoint a new GM and, from there, a new head coach after Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas were fired midway through this season.
There is intense scrutiny over Aaron Rodgers' future too, with plenty of suggestions that the 41-year-old will not be back on the team next year. At the beginning of December, NFL reporter Ian Rapoport said Rodgers was considered 'a long shot' to be at the Jets next season.
Rapoport said: 'You mention the money: none guaranteed but they do owe him a $35million option bonus if they decide to bring him back. My understanding is that Rodgers right now is considered a long shot to return to the Jets. 'Those conversations will happen with the new powerbrokers after the year but that is my understanding right now.'.
