A Celtic star had three first-half goals disallowed in his side's clash with Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Brandan Rodgers' side are chasing a spot in the play-off round of the competition, currently on the verge of doing do, but found it hard going to break down their Swiss opponents at home.
Kyogo Furuhashi thought he had given his side the lead on three separate occasions, with the first in the opening minute as he was flagged for offside. Then, just after the hour mark, the forward wheeled away in celebration with little doubt that this one would stand. It was, however, ruled that there was a foul in the build-up.
Just moments later, meanwhile, he had the ball in the net once again - but once again it was ruled out for offside. 'It's a hat-trick of ruled out goals now for Kyogo after another one is chopped off,' the Celtic X account posted during the game. Things went from bad to worse for the hosts on the night, too, when they were awarded a penalty five minutes from the break when Greg Taylor was tripped by Darian Males.
Arne Engels was presented with a golden opportunity to open the scoring, but his effort was saved by Marvin Keller. Celtic knew going into the game that a win would be vital against a side who had lost all six of their matches in the revamped competition so far this season.
