Joanna Page addresses Gavin and Stacey future and whether the show will return

Christmas Day 2024 gave Gavin and Stacey fans what they’d been waiting for for years, another episode. Gavin and Stacey: The Finale aired on December 25 and has been watched by a whopping 20 million people. The episode gave viewers what they’d be waiting years for, a wedding between Smithy and Nessa, however, that wasn’t the end. On New Year’s Day Gavin and Stacey: A Fond Farewell aired on BBC, a one-hour documentary that provided behind-the-scenes access to the cast and crew as they filmed the show's final episodes.
Despite this, hopeful fans are convinced they'd be seeing the cast back onscreen together one day. Now, Joanna Page, who plays Stacey Shipman in the show has weighed in, and it’s not good news for fans. During an interview on Thursday Morning’s Good Morning Britain, hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were just as curious as the rest of us. “Is it the final?” Susanna asked.
“It is,” Joanna confirmed. “I’ve always before now always said ‘no there’s going to be more’ but this is the first and only ever time I’ve been able to say ‘yes that is it.’” As a disappointed Richard asked Joanna how she could be so certain, she expressed: “I think, just from sensing from Ruth [Jones] and James [Corden] and them saying it is the finale. Definitely, that is it.”.
Despite this, Joanna joked that if it was Larry Lamb on the sofa, viewers would be getting a completely different answer. “Larry always says ‘oh there’ll be more’ but I 100% think that is it. I think it’s lovely though that Ruth and James have left it the way that it is and I think it was such a lovely ending,” she gushed.
