Gavin and Stacey’s Christmas reunion special is just one day from hitting our screens and you'll want to grab your tissues because they've marked the occasion by getting the cast together one final time. Jumping in the hot seats on BBC Radio 2 breakfast show for a hosting takeover, show creators James Corden, 46 and Ruth Jones, 58, were joined by their cast mates throughout the morning, including Joanna Page, Mathew Horne James and Rob Brydon for a very emotional final reunion before the sitcom returns to screens for one last time on Christmas Day at 9 pm.

While most of the radio show was full of laughs and light-hearted humour, as the clock ticked down, James, Ruth and their co-stars got increasingly emotional before they played one final song, Run by Stephen Fretwell and began sharing emotional hugs and kisses on the cheek, celebrating the end of their promotional tour and the official countdown to the episode’s airing time.

It caused a stir with fans who were overwhelmed with emotion upon seeing footage from the moment shared on the station’s official Instagram account. Captioned: “This was so special”, the comment section was quickly filled with bittersweet messages. “I did cry as soon as this intro started today…. This was such a fun and beautifully done show!! Loved it!!! I’ll be crying again on Xmas day, I’m sure ! Xx,” one person said.

“Listening in today was absolutely joyful, like the best early Christmas present ever. Such warmth and humour and fondness for people I can’t even claim to know. So much love for this cast and for the skill in creating a series that has become such a classic,” another fan wrote. Another fan said they “can’t wait” for the special episode but feel “so sad” as it’s the last one.
