Jon Rahm's comeback to the DP World Tour has ended prematurely as the LIV Golf star failed to make the cut at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Rahm chose to start his 2025 campaign on his home tour, with the LIV circuit not kicking off their season until next month in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Spaniard would have had high expectations heading to Emirates Golf Club for the first time following a successful 2024. Rahm's debut season on the LIV setup saw him clinch the league's individual title, with victories at LIV UK and LIV Chicago.

Despite having a successful history on the DP World Tour, the plan was to add more trophies this week, but a disappointing second round dashed his hopes. He started his week impressively, scoring a three-under-par 69 on Thursday, putting him in a favourable position.

However, the following morning, despite his eagerness to improve his score with the weekend looming, Rahm had a challenging day. Starting on the back nine, the LIV champion's round began disastrously, with two double bogeys and a bogey putting him on the wrong side of par at the turn.

Rahm could only manage level-par across his second nine holes, ensuring an early departure from the Middle East after finishing at two-over. Despite a disappointing week, the former Masters champion is already eyeing a return to the event in 2026, hoping for 'redemption'.

"If the schedule allows, I would like to be here next year and hopefully get some redemption," the Legion XIII captain explained after missing the cut. "I do believe this is a golf course and a tournament, if I were to play 20 years, I would win. I like it. It seems like the type of golf that I like to play.".
