Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka, two of golf's biggest names, have hailed LIV Golf's multi-year broadcast deal with FOX Sports in the United States as a "huge win" for the breakaway league. The partnership was announced on Thursday, promising live coverage of all league events across FOX's channels. This is a significant development for the tour, which has been seeking a major broadcast partner in the U.S. since its inception in 2022. Despite substantial investment from Saudi Arabia, LIV's events have so far only been streamed online and shown on The CW, resulting in disappointing viewing figures.
However, the FOX deal offers a chance to expand its audience and challenge the PGA Tour, which continues to outperform LIV despite a general decline in TV audiences. Reigning LIV champion Rahm said: "This partnership is a huge step forward for LIV Golf and our fans as it will help bring our tournaments to a broader audience.
"FOX Sports has a reputation for delivering world-class sports coverage and I'm confident they will elevate the experience for everyone watching. I believe FOX Sports shares our commitment to pushing boundaries and innovating, and I can't wait to see how this collaboration connects more fans to our sport.".
Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka, who joined the LIV Golf league in 2022 and captains the Smash team, hailed the new deal as "A huge win for LIV Golf.". He expressed his excitement, saying: "They know how to bring sports to life, and I'm pumped to see how they showcase what makes our game so unique. It's awesome to have a partner that shares our vision, and I think the fans are going to love what's coming.".
