Kanye West loses major deal worth £16m after Bianca’s nude Grammy Awards stunt

Kanye West is reportedly set to lose millions after his behaviour at last night’s Grammy Awards - as his wife Bianca Censori might even be facing jail time after their stunt. The couple attended the Grammys red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, but took attention away from fundraising after the California wildfires thanks to Bianca’s shocking outfit choice. Bianca, 30 - who married Kanye, 47, in January 2023 - wore a nude mesh dress made with such thin material that it could barely be seen, and appeared to be completely naked as she posed before she and Kanye were seemingly encouraged to leave.
Now, it seems the couple might already be facing the repercussions of their actions in the form of major monetary losses. Kanye and Bianca now seem to spend most of their time in Tokyo, Japan, and Kanye had two gigs booked at the Tokyo Dome in May, worth $20 million. According to an insider, Kanye’s Japanese backers for the shows are likely to pull out after the Grammys, with the “creepy” red carpet scene having been “greeted with horror” in the country. The source told the Daily Mail that Japan is currently having a “cultural awakening,” and that many people agree with fans that Kanye might be controlling or coercing Bianca into pulling such controversial stunts.
“What he did is being seen as an act of coercive control which is utterly unacceptable,” they said, adding: “The investors in Japan who are backing the concerts are extremely upset by this. It is highly likely that they will pull the funding for the shows.”. They concluded: “He has greatly misjudged the tolerance of the Japanese people towards these activities. He's just not welcome any more. This will be a big blow for him because he has been living in Japan for around a year now, almost full time, and I guess he did not see this coming.”.
Kanye’s latest potential loss comes after reports that his net worth has plunged by an estimated £1.2 billion in just three years due to similar stunts and outbursts. The star was one on the Forbes rich list at an estimated $2 billion (£1.6 bn), with major brand partnerships and huge music sales. Even after making it onto the list, Kanye raged that he was even richer than reported, angrily texting a Forbes editor: "It's $3.3 billion (£2.66bn) since no one at Forbes knows how to count.".
Soon, however, he started losing deals with his brand pals, such as Gap and Balenciaga, and lost $535 million (£430m) when Adidas severed all ties with the rapper. The fallout was triggered by Kanye’s series of antisemitic social media posts, beginning in 2022 when he suggested on Instagram that fellow-rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was "controlled" by Jews - and he hasn’t managed to mend many of the bridges he burned.
