When the Princess of Wales arrived at London's Royal Marsden Hospital yesterday, she 'beelined' for the therapy dog, a Pets as Therapy volunteer said. Kate Middleton, 43, made a deeply emotional visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on Tuesday morning, where it can now be revealed she has been undergoing her cancer treatments.
The compassionate mother-of-three met with patients to show her support and personally thanked staff for their 'exceptional care, support and compassion' over the past 12 months. Also greeting the royal on her first major solo engagement in more than a year was retired breast cancer surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Pets as Therapy volunteer, Nicola.
Talking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme this morning, Nicola chatted about meeting the 'gracious' royal mother-of-three in conversation with radio host Justin Webb. 'She was very gracious, very friendly [and] interested to know what the therapy dogs do and where they went in the hospital,' Nicola said.
It's an interest that Kate shares with her Pets as Therapy ambassador brother James Middleton, who raises awareness about the positive impact dogs can have on one's mental health. Kate's younger brother has previously recounted how he struggled to open up to family members while he was battling depression - and revealed how he instead confided in his beloved late spaniel Ella.
