Katie Holmes appeared to be in great spirits on Sunday as she headed to a matinee performance of her Broadway show Our Town. The 46-year-old actress — whose birthday was December 18 — was dressed in slightly baggy blue jeans, a striped blue and white sweater, and textured brown jacket.

The Dawson's Creek alum also sported a dark gray beanie and oversize sunglasses while walking with a coffee in each hand. Her long, brunette hair flowed out from under her hat and she slung a black tote bag over her shoulder. Holmes' ensemble was punctuated by a pair of white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.

Suri, whose father is Tom Cruise, surprised her backstage at the Barrymore Theatre in Midtown Manhattan on by joining her mom's co-stars and crew to sing Happy Birthday. Holmes shared footage from the special moment via her Instagram Story, which showed the Carnegie Mellon University freshman belting while holding an old Robert Redford headshot that read, 'Happy B-day Katie!'.
