Lady Louise Windsor has made a surprise appearance with her mother the Duchess of Edinburgh at The London International Horse Show. With Royal Family set to gather at Sandringham to celebrate Christmas, as befits tradition, the festive outing saw the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess accompany her mum to the equestrian event.

Lady Louise sported a pink shirt, tucked into a black and white maxi skirt, with her signature glasses and her hair up, while Duchess Sophie was wearing a tan skirt, cream top and patterned scarf around the shoulders. The mother and daughter duo were pictured meeting a professional showjumper called Lorenzo, known as 'The Flying Frenchman'. The rider shared a picture of their encounter on his Instagram stories, calling it a 'magnificent meeting with the Duchess of Edinburgh'.

Louise, who is 16th in line to the throne, is studying English at the University of St Andrews. She is reportedly dating fellow student Felix da Silva Clamp, who didn't join her at the horse show. The son of a solicitor father, Felix is said to work part time at an ice-cream parlour while studying in Scotland, with student Louise once taking a job at a garden centre. The royal turned 21 on November 8 this year and has been praised for her relatability.

"What's not to like about Lady Louise?" asked former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond. "She has overcome a great deal and now is blossoming into a beautiful 21 year old, enjoying life at St Andrews like any other undergraduate. She's studying English and has reportedly taken to the stage in University productions, in many ways emulating her father.
