Lewis Hamilton has suffered a crash during his second day of testing as a Ferrari driver ahead of the new Formula One season. The seven-time world champion has been continuing testing with Ferrari this week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Hamilton brought his time with Mercedes - which yielded six world titles - to a close at the end of 2024, and finally joined Ferrari having agreed a shock deal during the campaign.
But after his first taste with the most famous Formula One team of all at their test track Fiorano, by their base at Maranello, Hamilton's preparations continued this week. The star reportedly came off the track and crashed into barriers after losing control in the final sector of the circuit.
Hamilton, 39, is understood to have avoided injury in the crash. The Ferrari's suspension and aerodynamic parts were badly damaged in the crash, according to Motorsport.com. Lewis Hamilton, pictured in Milan last week, suffered a crash when testing in Barcelona.
Ferrari are reportedly evaluating the damage to the car and analysing the cause of the incident. Hamilton's crash delayed team-mate Charles Leclerc's testing period, which was due to take place this afternoon. The crash is a blow for Hamilton, as the £50m-a-year star looks to familiarise himself with his new set up at Ferrari.
