Linda Nolan made a heartbreaking New Year's resolution in her last ever interview before she died. The singer was determined to live her life to the fullest as she grappled with her diagnosis. The singer was first told she had the cancer in 2005 and went into remission a year later. But in 2017, she devastatingly announced she had been diagnosed with a secondary cancer in her hip, which spread to her liver in 2020. Three years later, the cancer had spread to her brain.
In her final interview just before Christmas, Linda told OK! Magazine she had one wish for the new year. With unmatched defiance, the Nolan sister said: "My hope for this year? To not die, obviously. I just want to be here with my family. I want us all to be here this time next year, that's the goal.".
The star spoke frankly and admitted she thought her 60th birthday would "be my last" but added: "I'm still here five years later.". Despite her health struggles over Christmas, Linda, who also appeared in Celebrity Big Brother, remained admirably positive. She shared: "I try to stay positive, I'll use jokes and humour as a way to cope, but of course it's scary. And I have my days where I'm terribly down.".
Meanwhile, in her final column for The Mirror, Linda revealed how her health had taken a bad turn over the festive period. The column, titled 'I didn't eat for 11 days over Christmas – I thought, 'Oh my God, is this it?', was published on December 8 and was Linda's first piece in 2025. She wrote: "Chicken curry with pineapple, no mushrooms. I'd never have imagined that would be my first bite of 2025 – but there it is. Denise and Tom were ordering a Chinese on Sunday and suddenly that's what I fancied.
