Adrian Meronk has revealed making the choice to join LIV Golf over taking a PGA Tour card was the "hardest decision" of his life, but the Polish star now believes he made the right move. Meronk made a shock move to the LIV setup last year, opting to sign on the dotted line with Greg Norman and co having already played his way onto the PGA Tour. The Cleeks GC star was the first of 10 DP World Tour stars to qualify for a card in the United States, but ultimately chose to turn it down.
Instead Meronk got a better offer having been poached by two-time major champion Martin Kaymer to join the Cleeks and compete on the breakaway circuit in 2024. The Polish star's decision was scrutinised heavily, but 12 months on, he has discussed his choice and opened up on his first year with the LIV setup. "It was obviously one of the hardest decisions of my life at the beginning of last," Meronk told Mirror Sport of his LIV switch.
"But looking back I don't have any regrets. It has been a lot of fun playing on the team, and being on LIV feels like on big family to be honest. I am excited for this new year. Last year was a bit up and down for me on the course. A lot of stress, a lot of changes, but I hope I can settle this year and play my best golf.".
This time last year Meronk had already announced on his personal channels that he was set for his first full season on the PGA Tour, before a late offer from the LIV setup changed his mind. Whilst many within the sport were quick to disagree with his choice, Meronk explained life competing in the United States was a challenge, whereas LIV offered him a new beginning.
