Trent Alexander-Arnold has managed to avoid a major injury but could still miss a crucial game for Liverpool - with the club facing Merseyside rivals Everton next week. The England defender picked up a thigh issue during the Reds’ 2-0 win against Bournemouth at the weekend. And there was understandable concern, with Trent Alexander-Arnold undergoing further testing to discover the severity of the issue.

And it appears that the right-back has managed to avoid a long-term injury. According to the Liverpool Echo, Alexander-Arnold had a scan on Monday and that has revealed that there is no serious injury. While that is the case, the defender could still face some time on the sidelines. A specific timeframe has reportedly not been put on his return, while his rehabilitation is being managed day by day. He is still expected to miss this week’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg with Tottenham, as Arne Slot’s side aim to overturn their one-goal deficit. They then take on Plymouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the weekend ahead of the rearranged Merseyside derby clash with Everton next Wednesday.

Speaking about Alexander-Arnold’s injury after the win against Bournemouth, Slot said: “The situation is he said to me that you have to take me off and he sat on the floor and we took him off. “He felt something, I can’t tell you exactly what it was and how bad it is as we are (talking now) only just after the game. But it’s never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution. It’s not a fact but I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday. Let’s hope he is back with us as soon as possible.”.

What team should Liverpool name vs Tottenham? Share your thoughts in the comments below. One man who could potentially replace Alexander-Arnold in the starting line-up is Conor Bradley. The 21-year-old has also struggled with injuries this term but returned earlier this month, starting the previous game against Tottenham. Speaking about his comeback, he said: "I think there always is [some rustiness] when you've been out for a couple of weeks. I felt like I was just growing and growing into the game.

"Obviously we're just managing my minutes, coming off at 60, and I'm ready to go again on Saturday. You've just always got to be ready for a chance. Whenever you're called upon, just be ready to come in and give your all for the team and just try to help the team win in any way you can. That's what I always try to do and just be ready.".
