Liverpool have two weeks left if they fancy conducting any business this January. The Reds currently lead the Premier League and are the clear favourites to lift the title come May. But before that, Arne Slot’s side could consider signings to get them over the line.

Even away from that, Liverpool might need some additions to replace some of their current stars. Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are all out of contract in the summer. Merseyside chiefs have been attempting to extend the trio’s stays with the club but they have had no luck so far. With that being said, take a look at the latest transfer news and rumours:.

Amid Trent Alexander-Arnold’s failure to sign a new deal with Liverpool, he has been pursued by Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are keen to sign him in the summer, but did try and get him six months early. All of their approaches have so far been turned down by Liverpool and it appears that they are ready to admit defeat. As per Revelo, the Spanish giants believe it is 'practically impossible' to sign him this month due to Liverpool’s stance.

Instead, they are resigned to signing him in the summer once his contract on Merseyside expires. Madrid chiefs have apparently given their approval to shelving a move and it remains to be seen whether they move for a short-term alternative right-back amid Dani Carvajal’s injury issues.
