Liverpool boss Arne Slot was forced to scrap Thursday's planned training session after weather once again impacted his side. The Reds had travelled to Tottenham on Wednesday night for the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. Lucas Bergvall's goal four minutes from time saw Slot's side fall to defeat and facing an uphill task to reach the final.

They are now building up to an FA Cup third round clash against League Two Accrington Stanley on Saturday. But Slot is already facing problems as he attempts to prepare his side for that game. A cold snap has hit the UK over the past week, with temperatures plummeting. While the clash with Spurs was not impacted, Liverpool's journey back to Merseyside was more problematic than expected.

According to The Athletic, their flight from London was unable to land at Liverpool John Lennon Airport due to icy fog. Instead, their plane was diverted to Birmingham International Airport, 102 miles away.

The club then provided ground transportation for the rest of the journey home. With the game not finishing until 10pm, the delayed journey meant the players did not get back to Liverpool until the early hours. That forced boss Slot to cancel a planned training session on Thursday. The weather has been a familiar problem for Liverpool this season, with their trip to Everton postponed due to Storm Darragh.
