Liverpool look set to prioritise a move for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez after former target Alphonso Davies signed a contract extension with Bayern Munich. Davies, 24, has put pen to paper on a new five-and-a-half-year deal, as his previous contract had been set to expire in June. The Champions League-winning defender was most heavily linked with joining Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer but Liverpool's name was also in the conversation.

Now, though, Anfield chiefs will be forced to look for alternatives, with Kerkez a popular suggestion among Liverpool fans who believe that the Reds should look to replace Andy Robertson. The Hungary international has been outstanding at Bournemouth this season and the man who brought him to the south coast last year, Richard Hughes, is now Liverpool's sporting director. That's led to speculation that Hughes could use his links with the Cherries to engineer a move. The 21-year-old already has experience of joining a major European club, signing for AC Milan four years ago. Kerkez never made a senior appearance for the Italian giants and signed for AZ Alkmaar just one year later.

There were plenty of eyes on Kerkez throughout Liverpool's 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday, during which the left-back set up a goal which was narrowly ruled out for offside. After the game, Arne Slot was directly asked about Kerkez but the Reds boss had no interest in discussing another club's player. "That shows you how good of a manager you have over here and what a great sporting director you had over here (Hughes) and maybe still have now, I don't know who it is," Slot replied.

"But he (Hughes) brought in many good players and the manager works with every player to bring them in an incredible way, including the one you just mentioned. But I am not talking about an individual, they are all bringing the best out of their game at the moment.". Should Liverpool make Milos Kerkez their priority at left-back? Have your say in the comments section. "I don't think I have to talk about players that we are interested in, let alone a player from Bournemouth," Slot said. "He is over here and he is having a great season as many, many other players are having here as well.

His manager for Hungary, Marco Rossi, recently made headlines by hinting that Kerkez could be on the move this summer. "As for Milos, he is playing very well, nobody predicted that Bournemouth would be in this position in the league," Rossi told Hungarian outlet CSAKFOCI. "The English top teams are following him closely, it is also possible that he will change, if not now, then at the end of the season. He is a very important player for us, we hope that he will succeed in developing in the national team, as he does in his club.".
