The iconic media centre at Lord's is to be rebranded after the Home of Cricket signed a record-breaking new sponsorship deal with Barclays. Since opening in 1999, the unique design has won eight architectural awards and is now regarded as one of the most recognisable buildings in British sport.
But courtesy of a deal struck by the MCC, owners of the historic ground situated in St John's Wood, London, the facility will now be known as the Barclays Media Centre after the bank became the new principal partner of Lord's. The new multi-year partnership was announced on Monday as Lord's prepares to host more international cricket than any other UK ground this year, plus its first ever women's Test Match in 2026.
The Media Centre celebrated its 25th-anniversary last year after hosting the opening day of the second Test match between England and Sri Lanka. The 5.8million building's first taste of action was the same fixture, but this time as part of the 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Barclays will help Lord's create accessible and inclusive cricket for 10,000 young people.
The structure of the centre was groundbreaking for its time, being the first all-aluminium, semi-monocoque building in the world. It was built and fitted out in two boatyards in England and Holland, and designed by the late avant-garde Czech architect, Jan Kaplický.
