Love Island's Marcel Somerville gets raw about split with wife in chat with ex Gabby Allen

Marcel Somerville found a sympathetic ear in former flame Gabby Allen after they were reunited on Love Island: All Stars. The pair were previously on the ITV dating show during season three in 2017 where they remarked on a romance. The love did not last outside the villa, however, and Marcel eventually went on to date and marry Rebecca Viera - who he is still technically married to.
Marcel and Gabby were stunned to see each other in the Love Island villa when season two of the All Stars spin-off began this month - and were left in an awkward situation when the public voted for them to be re-coupled at the first coupling ceremony. However, the duo found a quiet corner to talk and review their past together.
During this chat, Marcel opened up to Gabby about his emotions as he explained he feels he is ready to move on with his love life after his marriage collapsed a year ago. She asked him "Do you feel ready to move on, now?" And he replied: "So, to be fair, it’s been a year and I feel like I need to start because…".
Picking up on his hesitation, Gabby gently asked: "Have you dated anyone else since?" To which Marcel confessed: "No. This is the baptism of fire, literally… I tried to make it with her and tried to make it work, but it was like, every day I was waking up and just being like, ‘I can’t… I can’t do this.’".
He continued: "You know when you are unhappy and you just know you’re unhappy, like?" To which Gabby said: "Life is too short for that.". Discussing his current headspace, the former Blazin' Squad singer said: "You’ve got to just do and take the right steps that you need to take to make you feel confident." And Gabby said: "I’m glad you’re ok. Obviously that’s s**t for you to go through.".
