Man, 19, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after female police officer hit by car

A female police officer has been seriously injured after she was hit by a vehicle at a retail park. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the incident happened on Wilmslow Road in Cheadle on Saturday night. A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A GMP statement said: "We received a report of people acting suspiciously inside a vehicle in the car park. As the responding police officer walked towards the vehicle, she reported that the vehicle was driven at speed towards her, hitting her. "The officer was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries.".
