Man shares 'genius' flight hack to guarantee you never get a middle seat

While some carriers are generous enough to let you pick your seat for free, budget airlines often charge for the privilege, leading many travellers to opt for the luck of the draw.
However, this gamble has a significant downside – the dreaded middle seat. The middle seat is often the last choice for solo travellers, but here's the kicker: those who do pay to choose their seat will almost certainly avoid the middle like the plague, meaning if you're randomly assigned, you're more likely to end up sandwiched in the centre.
But fear not, a savvy frequent flyer has shared a "genius" hack that promises to keep you clear of the middle seat. His trick has taken TikTok by storm, with users calling it a "game-changer". Jorden Tually claims that budget airlines have a sneaky tactic when it comes to random seat allocation: they deliberately plonk you in the middle seat, hoping you'll cough up the cash to escape it. Jorden refused to fork out $9 AUD (£4.50) for a window seat upgrade and instead shared his clever trick to secure a better spot without paying extra.
He explained: "Upon check-in I saw there were still 10 middle seats available, so I go straight to the website and pretend to buy 10 more tickets. The website is going to ask for every passenger's names, so just slam a bunch of letters in and continue on. Next, go to seat selection and select all of the middle seats or all of the seats you definitely do not want to be sitting in.
