A MAP has revealed a wall of fog across the UK today as drivers were warned to be aware of "tricky conditions". The Met Office said fog is likely to reform or thicken this evening across parts of England and Wales. The forecaster added this could cause tricky driving conditions overnight and during Friday morning's rush hour.

It will be mostly cloudy across Scotland and Northern Ireland with patchy rain mainly focused over the hills in the west. The rest of the country will be largely dry but often cloudy across England and Wales and feeling chilly. Meteorologist Honor Criswick said: "Cloudy, grey and drab pretty much sums up the weather to end the week across much of the country.

"That's despite a ridge of high pressure largely dominating across central and southern areas. "There's lots of moisture trapped underneath this high, which means fairly grey skies at times. "Also some rain and drizzle across the northwest as we see frontal systems move in.

"A good squeeze in the isobars will see some windy conditions across the northwest also at times. "To start the day this morning there's plenty of cloud around. Likely seeing some quite murky conditions to start. "Even some fog in places, particularly eastern parts of Wales and North West England, could see some fog rather slow to clear.".

The Met Office issued five key tips for driving in difficult conditions including asking motorists to follow a two-second rule and to wind down their windows. The post read: "Be aware there is a lot of mist and fog this morning across England and Wales, as well as SW Scotland.
