Married at First Sight star Jessika Power has shared her devastation after her ex-boyfriend Sam “The Punisher” Abdulrahim was shot dead. Power, 33, dated Abdulrahim, 32, in 2019 shortly after appearing on the sixth series of the Australian reality series with Mick Gould and said they had stayed in touch ever since.
They had a short-lived romance after he was released from prison, having served time over a high-speed crash that resulted in the death of an 88-year-old woman. Abdulrahim, an underworld figure in Melbourne, was killed in a car park outside the Quest hotel in Melbourne on Tuesday morning following several attempts on his life.
“We ended on really good terms. He's always been supportive to me if I needed him, even up until a few months ago.”. She went on: “I just feel so sad for his wife and his child - she's going to grow up without a dad and it's such a toxic world to be in that underworld thing.”.
The Celebs Go Dating star added that he was a “great protector” who was “dedicated to his family” and a “really good guy”. Police have said that a woman, believed to be Abdulrahim’s girlfriend, was with him at the time and administered first aid until police and paramedics arrived. He died at the scene.
Power met Abdulrahim through mutual friends and they went Instagram official in May 2019. Later that month, they were seen cuddling up at a party and kissing at Melbourne airport. The Celebrity Ex On the Beach star said Abdulrahim’s underworld connections were “part of the reason” why their relationship ended as she “didn’t want to be around that”.
