With good television comes a bit of creative license - and medical dramas are prime territory for that. But Max's new series The Pitt - starring ER alum Noah Wyle - has taken medical professionals by surprise with its accuracy and likeness to working in a real hospital.

The show presents a 'realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,' as per the synopsis. Healthcare workers are now taking to social media to share their thoughts on the series, and many are declaring it the most accurate representation of working in a hospital on TV.

'Like most doctors, I watch any medical show that tries to be realistic with a lot of skepticism,' anesthesiology resident Dr. Tricia Pendergrast said in a TikTok. 'Despite that,' she continued. 'I was fairly pleasantly surprised by the first two episodes of The Pitt.'.

While the doctor noted there were obviously more trauma cases and cardiac arrests than a regular hospital, there are a lot of 'nuanced things' that producers have nailed about working in an emergency room. The anesthesiologist said some of the accuracies include the emergency physicians always drinking energy drinks, the waiting room always being full and patients getting angry when they have to wait because sicker patients are being seen first.
