DONALD Trump's new press secretary is the youngest person to ever hold the powerful position. Karoline Leavitt, 27, has already made waves in her first full day as the White House press secretary as she teased a "massive" announcement from the president at 4 pm on Tuesday.
The job hasn't been held by anyone under 30 since 1969 under former President Richard Nixon's administration. "Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator," Trump said in a statement announcing her appointment in November.
"I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American people.". Leavitt shared her excitement about her new position on X in response to a video of workers cleaning the White House briefing room. "Thank you to the hardworking White House staff preparing for our arrival. See you soon!" she wrote on January 20.
Hours later, she posted a picture from the Capitol Rotunda. "The Golden Age of America has begun," she wrote. Leavitt previously served as the national press secretary for Trump's 2024 campaign. She also served as Trump's assistant press secretary during his last administration - when she was just fresh out of college.
The New Hampshire native graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2019 with degrees in communications and political science. She started her career as an intern at Fox News during college. Before Leavitt's senior year of college, she also interned in the White House Office of Presidential Correspondence.
