Meghan Markle forced to eat her words with Netflix decision ahead of new show

After months of speculation, Meghan Markle's eagerly-awaited cookery show finally hits screens in just a matter of days. The show, called With Love, Meghan, is set to drop on Netflix on Wednesday and will see the Duchess of Sussex invite friends and famous guests to a California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips. A teaser of the eight-part series has already been released and includes a clip of Meghan being hugged by husband Prince Harry.
Harry and Meghan signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix almost five years ago to create shows for the streaming service, with their biggest hit so far being their controversial docuseries, Harry & Meghan. Since then, they have released several other documentaries, including one about Harry's Invictus Games for wounded service personnel and another about the sport of polo. Ahead of the release of With Love, Meghan next week, Netflix has tagged the show as 'reality TV'.
It is the first time one of Harry and Meghan's Netflix offerings has been put into the reality TV category. It is also in the relaxing, feel-good, lifestyle, well-being, home & garden genres. However, it seems this goes against something the Sussexes claimed they would not do almost five years ago. Back in 2020, after reports they would film a reality TV show for Netflix, their spokesperson at the time bluntly said: "The Duke and Duchess are not taking part in any reality shows.".
