Having been asked whether he would prefer to play Van Gerwen or close friend Callan Rydz - who also hails from the North-East - Dobey replied, as quoted by SportsBoom: 'It’ll probably be a bit easier playing Michael [van Gerwen] than it will Callan [Rydz].'.
Dobey has said it would be 'easier' to play Van Gerwen than Callan Rydz in the last four.

Despite winning fewer legs, having a lower average and hitting fewer 180s than Rydz, Van Gerwen showed his class in the key moments as he narrowly avoided being taken to a deciding set to win 5-3.
