A PACKED UK-bound flight was forced to turn back and make an emergency landing when passengers and crew became sick at 30,000ft. Toxic fumes made a dozen travellers and five British Airways staff ill one hour after take-off. Passengers panicked and the captain decided to return to Dubai airport, where paramedics and firefighters lined the runway as BA Flight 0108 touched down. A passenger said: “It was clear there was little preparation for such an event.”.

Despite the shocking scenes, aviation experts confirmed to Brazilian media that lightning strikes on planes are common and generally harmless.
