Mike Tyson made a worrying admission to his own wife Lakiha Spicer after his boxing match with YouTube star Jake Paul in Texas last month. Tyson lost to Paul in the controversial and unprecedented Netflix bout, with loud boos ringing out at the end of an underwhelming showdown.

After their battle, Tyson put out an emotional statement to explain why he ‘won’ the fight, despite suffering defeat via unanimous decision in what was the former world heavyweight champion’s first bout in 19 years. The 58-year-old boxing legend has now revealed he confessed to his wife that he was baffled by his decision to enter the ring against the 27-year-old.

Tyson told Fox Sports Radio: ‘The day after the fight, I woke up and told my wife, ‘Why did I do that?’ – I just don’t know what the hell went on.’. Tyson then shockingly admitted he could not remember a large chunk of the Paul fight. ‘I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out,’ Tyson added. ‘I haven’t watched the fight.

‘You know what I remember… coming back from the first round and Jake was doing some sort of bow… that’s the last thing I remember.’. Tyson pocketed around $20m (£15.7m) after coming out of retirement for his one-off fight with Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

But Paul and Tyson faced accusations that their Netflix bout was ‘fixed’ from professional boxers who were involved on the undercard. Sara Bailey, the women’s WBA world light flyweight champion who was in the corner of Lucas Bahdi – the Canadian lightweight who fought on the undercard – suggested that the main event was set up in order for Tyson to not take significant punishment.
