Mike Tyson makes worrying admission about Jake Paul fight months after bout

Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson has worryingly admitted he hasn't fully recovered from his showdown with Jake Paul back in November. The 58-year-old - who originally retired from the sport in 2005 - stunned the boxing world when he announced his comeback to the professional ring last year. Both Tyson and Paul were due to go head-to-head back in July, but the former was forced to pull out of the bout after suffering an ulcer flare-up on a flight.
Their bout was moved to November, but despite looking sharp in training, Tyson was unable to roll back the years on fight night. After the second round of the heavyweight dust-up, the 58-year-old started to tire and failed to land anything significant throughout the rest of the contest. Eventually, Paul would go on to get his hand raised via unanimous decision. November's outing proved to be a big hit on Netflix after the streaming service revealed that a whopping 60 million households tuned into the contest. As well as that, the event hit a peak of 65 million live streams. However, Tyson has now revealed the physical toll the fight took on him.
He told the New York Post “I feel pretty good. I don’t know if I’m 100 per cent recovered, but I feel good.” Back in December, the boxing veteran admitted he couldn't remember a large chunk of the fight. "I don't remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out," he told Fox Sports Radio. "I haven't watched the fight. You know what I remember... coming back from the first round and Jake was doing some sort of bow... that's the last thing I remember." He went on to say: "I wasn't tired, I wasn't sweaty. I went to the house we were staying in, I left the house with my wife and kids, went to the after-party then went back.".
The American admitted after the showdown he had almost died in the build-up to the fight after suffering an ulcer flare-up on a flight. “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” he said. “I’m grateful for [Friday] night and have no regrets about getting in the ring one last time. “I almost died in June; I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.”.
Tyson coincidentally bumped into his rival at Donald Trump's inauguration recently - and it was evident that the pair had no animosity towards each other. In a video uploaded to X - formerly known as Twitter - Tyson was seen getting on his former rival's shoulders as various onlookers chanted words of support. The 28-year-old lifted the former heavyweight world champion with ease as 'Iron Mike' shouted in excitement. Both were dressed up very smartly for the black-tie event. 'The Problem Child' had a simple two-word caption for the post as he wrote: "BEST FRIENDS.''.
