Minister hits back at Elon Musk as tech billionaire steps up criticism of Keir Starmer over grooming gangs A minister has hit back at Elon Musk after the tech billionaire continued to post a string of critical tweets about Sir Keir Starmer and the UK government over the grooming gangs scandal.
Health minister Andrew Gwynne said the tycoon should focus on US politics as Mr Musk used his social media platform, X, to criticise how child sexual exploitation was being dealt with in Britain - and the refusal to launch a Home Office inquiry into sex trafficking rings in Oldham.
Asked about the Tesla owner’s comments, Mr Gwynne told LBC: "Elon Musk is an American citizen and perhaps ought to focus on issues on the other side of the Atlantic.
"There comes a point where we don't need more inquiries, and had Elon Musk really paid attention to what's been going on in this country, he might have recognised that there have already been inquiries.
We've already had inquiries into Telford, into Rotherham, we've had a local inquiry commissioned by Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, into the situation here in Greater Manchester, which includes Oldham.
