Miquita Oliver has revealed she was 'attending therapy sessions drunk' at the height of her alcoholism as she candidly discussed her struggle. The presenter, 40, previously admitted to 'losing everything' to bankruptcy and booze when she was unable to pay a £174,000 tax bill back in 2012.
Speaking on Monday's episode of Miss Me? podcast with close friend and co-host Lily Allen, the pair opened up about their experiences with therapy. One listener called in to asked if there was a particular event that made them start therapy. Miquita admitted: 'I started going to a therapist when I was deep in my alcoholism in my early thirties and it didn't work because I was going to my sessions drunk.
'That is a whole different level of performative therapy. I was trying to pretend that I hadn't been drinking.'. Miquita Oliver has revealed she was 'attending therapy sessions drunk' at the height of her alcoholism as she candidly discussed her struggle (pictured in September).
The presenter, 40, previously admitted to 'losing everything' to bankruptcy and booze when she was unable to pay a £174,000 tax bill back in 2012 (pictured with Lily Allen in 2012). She continued: 'That really did feel pointless and because of how awful I realised that going to therapy drunk was that led me to stop drinking for a little bit.
'But then I found a really good therapist who did help me change my life, and continue to change my life.'. Addressing her bankruptcy on BBC Three programme Young, British & Broke in 2013, she said she was so ashamed about her financial troubles that she didn't tell anybody for two years.
