THIS is the shocking moment a drink-driver puts on a clueless act when quizzed by cops after causing a horrific crash that left a woman needing her arm amputated. Leigh Brean, 43, downed 10 pints in five hours before smashing his Volkswagen Tiguan into a Fiat 500 travelling in the opposite direction of the A38 near Bristol Airport.
He had two passengers in the car at the time on October 28, 2023. Footage from the scene shows cops quizzing Brean who refuses to participate while casually smoking a cigarette. A cop can be heard asking: "Who's vehicle is this? Who was in the vehicle?".
To which Brean replies: "I was.". He then tells them that "the driver has gone". The 43-year-old continued to plead his innocence, insisting he was not the driver and then refused to complete a roadside test, MailOnline reports. Brean had been overtaking two bendy buses in a no overtaking zone when he crashed into his victims driving a Fiat 500.
One of the victims, who has been described as a "business woman" was put into an induced coma for two months following the incident. Her arm was amputated to her elbow but she later died due to sustaining such traumatic injuries also to her leg and brain.
The second victim suffered extensive internal bleeding and bruising after the crash. Brean was jailed for three years and two months and banned from driving for 11 years and seven months. The sentence comes after he pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by driving and for failing to provide a specimen.
