Mum tapes seven-year-old's mouth shut and locks her in dog cage under Christmas tree A woman will spend the festive season behind bars after she allegedly taped shut the mouth of a seven-year-old girl and locking her in a dog cage under a Christmas tree.
According to the Barbieri Law Firm, under Texas law a person convicted of unlawful restraint of a child under 17 can face years behind bars if found guilty.
The law firm said on its website: "If the defendant restrained a child younger than 17 years of age, the offense is punishable by 180 days-10 years in a Texas state jail.".
The law firm continued: "Only if one, the child was younger than 14 of age or two the child is a relative and the only intention for locking the room was to lawfully control the child.
According to Harris County Sheriff's Office public criminal records Anderson was charged with unlawful restraint of a child aged under 17 years of age.
