When Hijack released back in 2023, it flew under the radar. Starring the brilliant Idris Elba in the lead, this Apple TV original is packed to the hilt with twists and turns — and they're taking place 30,000ft above sea level. Supported by an incredible cast including Neil Maskell, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Aimée Kelly, Zora Bishop, Ben Miles, Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams and Hattie Moraha, if you're looking for a thrilling, edge-of-the-seat weekend binge then Hijack is the show for you.

This seven episode show has it all - excitement, brilliant acting, good direction, and a great plot. With some of the best real-time pacing seen on-screen in a while, Hijack will leave you guessing till its very last minute. It's one of those shows that will require your suspension of disbelief, because there are so many crazy things that happen on this seven-hour hijacked flight from Dubai to London, perfectly aligned with the show's duration. Creators Jim Field Smith and George Kay are nothing if not inventive.

Sam Nelson (Elba) is a business negotiator who, through the power of expert deduction, realises that he's on a flight and something is wrong. All Sam wants to do is go home to his estranged wife Marsha (Adams) and son Kai (Jude Cudjoe), but five British hijackers have other plans.

What follows is a dangerous joyride through the skies, as crew, passengers, and the surprisingly calm-while-under-hijack Sam try to regain control of flight KA29. Crossing over several countries and international boundaries, Hijack makes the notable choice to stay entirely apolitical. Because who needs politics when there are five scatter-brained, wildly under-confident hijackers who started two hours too early, crafting chaos by the second?.
