A woman known for her extravagant seasonal displays - especially around Christmas time - says they have been deemed "tasteless and tacky" in the past. But this year she hopes neighbours will change their tune. Hannah Cape, 32, has been decorating her front door for years. Previous years have seen gingerbread and nutcracker-themed displays, and this year she's going for a disco and glitter theme.

But the faux florist knows some neighbours on her street in Minehead, Somerset, aren't always fans. "[I want] it to bring fun into Christmas," she said. "It’s not to everyone’s taste but the colour and fun should make people smile. The majority will say it looks pretty but I’m sure I’ll have a few neighbours who hate it. Or find it distasteful – but only five houses drive past to see it.".

Hannah, who is also known as ‘Artificial Hannah’ online, explained this year's theme is inspired by her wedding. She said: "My husband and I got married earlier this year – our wedding theme was pink [and] orange with disco balls, so I wanted the challenge of creating a Christmas door with the same theme.".

She said the festive door display has cost £200 to put together, and she managed to save money by recycling materials from previous displays. She said: "I’ve re-used all the pine from last year's display. The Nutcracker is from three years ago. But he’s had a makeover from the local paint shop, so he matches the door perfectly. All I had to buy was the baubles and flowers, which came to around £200.".
