Nelly Furtado has shared an empowering Instagram post, making a plea with fans to have a ‘body neutral 2025’. The Canadian singer-songwriter, 46, took to the social media platform on Sunday evening, sharing a series of rare unedited bikini snaps as she declared 2025 the year to ‘express yourself freely’.
Posing in a neon orange bikini, Nelly authentically shared her story of body neutrality, telling fans in 2024, she had to pursue legal action against people who were ‘selling services based on selling health and beauty myths about me’. Presumably prompting her post of honesty, the Maneater singer went on to share industry secrets and revealed whether she has had any cosmetic or plastic surgery since releasing her debut album in 2000.
‘For whoever cares, I have never had any face or body surgeries or augmentation, besides for veneers on the top row of my teeth, quite recently,’ she wrote in the lengthy caption. Nelly told fans that as of writing, she has not had ‘any face or lip injections or fillers of any kind’, instead choosing to work with an ‘old school facialist’ who she has been seeing since she was 20 years old.
Sharing insider knowledge into how she achieves her red carpet or photoshoot-ready looks, the Grammy winner said before big events, she drinks a lot of water and sleeps on her back. ‘Sometimes on the red carpet or at photo shoots my makeup artist uses face tape to give my eyes , skin and makeup more lift,’ she added. ‘Sometimes my stylist uses body tape to give a certain look to different silhouettes. Body makeup can also sometimes be contoured to achieve a certain look.’.
