Bear Grylls is back with a bang as his latest escapade, Celebrity Bear Hunt, drops on Netflix today (February 5), promising viewers plenty of drama. The show throws 12 celebs into the wilds of Costa Rica, where they become the hunted in a game of cat and mouse led by the survival expert himself. Among the stars braving the challenge is rapper-cum-chef Big Zuu, aka Zuhair Hassan, famed for his culinary show Big Zuu's Big Eats on Dave. With the series now streaming, fans are eager to delve into Big Zuu's journey from his modest roots to his rumoured love affair with a model.
Raised on the Mozart Estate in Harrow, West London, Big Zuu attributes his achievements to his early life struggles, reports Surrey Live. Speaking to iNews in 2022, he shared: "I'm from a typical working class refugee background. My mum came to the UK from Sierra Leone, and we settled in West London when I was five.". "We didn't have anything to fall back on, we were relying on the Government's help that's what I meant when I said in my speech that I came from humble beginnings.".
His relatable upbringing has been a cornerstone of his connection with audiences across his varied projects. The TV star has been romantically linked to a gorgeous model named Amy. She's been working as a model for the fashion behemoth Fashion Nova, sharing plenty of snaps of her jet-setting lifestyle on social media. Both halves of this cryptic couple shared their own sneaky Insta stories from Tenorio Volcano National Park in Guataso, Costa Rica. Despite both being at the same stunning location, neither dared to tag the other keeping us guessing about their romance.
Back in May 2022, Big Zuu took home not one, but two shiny BAFTA TV Awards for entertainment performance and features thanks to his show Big Zuu's Big Eats. Fast forward to 2023, and he did it again, winning in the same dazzling categories and nabbing Entertainment Performance last year too. Taking to the podium, he poured his heart out: "It means a lot. Where we came from this stuff is very rare.". "We grew up in a little estate together, no one would have thought we would have got to where we have got to and to win a Bafta. I don't know - it's just mad.".
