It's one of the most popular streaming platforms in the UK. But if you use Netflix, there's bad news - as your monthly bill is about to increase yet again. Customers on the Standard plan will have to fork out an extra £2 per month, with the most popular plan increasing from £10.99/month to £12.99/month. Meanwhile, its most expensive plan, Premium, will increase by £1, with users now faced with a £18.99 bill every month.

Finally, the most basic plan, Standard with Adverts, will now cost £5.99/month - £1 more than usual. Unsurprisingly, the news has not gone down well with Netflix's 17.3 million UK subscribers. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote: 'Another £2 price increase from @Netflix… yeah time to cancel. They don’t bring out shows good enough anymore for that price.'. Another added: 'Sorry, but Netflix is not worth £19 a month.'.

Netflix currently offers three plans in the UK. The cheapest option is 'Standard with Adverts', which allows up to two devices to watch at the same time in 1080p resolution - although films and TV programmes are regularly interrupted with adverts. The 'Standard' plan is the same, but viewers can enjoy their favourite shows without the irritation of ads. Finally, the Premium plan allows up to four devices to watch at the same time in 4K resolution, and also does not have any adverts.

Unfortunately for Britons, the prices for all three plans are increasing to £5.99/month (Standard with Adverts), £12.99/month (Standard), and £18.99/month (Premium). And the price hikes don't end there. Netflix users who want to have an extra account outside their houshold will now have to pay £5.99 - £1 more than usual. What's more, an extra member on the ad-plan will now have to pay £4.99, also up by £1.

Unsurprisingly, the news has not gone down well with Netflix's 17.3 million UK subscribers. One user joked: 'Blimey, another price hike? They must think we’ve all got money trees in the garden!. Several users have threatened to cancel their subscriptions following the news of the price hikes. Standard with Ads - £4.99 to £5.99. Standard - £10.99 to £12.99. Premium - £17.99 to £18.99. Extra Member - £4.99 to £5.99.

Extra Member with Ads - £3.99 to £4.99. Netflix claims the price hike will allow it to 'deliver more value' for its subscribers. In a statement, a spokesperson told MailOnline: 'As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can reinvest to further improve Netflix.'. The price increase affects both new and existing subscribers, with the new prices coming into effect on February 6.

Existing members should receive an email with the exact timing of the change, depending on their specific billing cycle. Several unhappy users have taken to X to vent their frustrations. 'I guess the cancellations will rise as well,' one user wrote. Another added: 'My monthly subscription is now almost double what it was when I first signed up. 'Back then, they had good first-run movies from various Hollywood studios. Now they produce their own mediocre content and we rarely watch it anymore.

'We are disconnecting this month, before the hike.'. And one joked: 'Blimey, another price hike? They must think we’ve all got money trees in the garden!. 'If I wanted to pay more for a load of drivel, I'd just watch my mate's dodgy old VHS tapes. Time to dig out the DVDs and save a few quid, I reckon!'. Netflix's last price hike in the UK was in December 2023, at which point its Basic plan increased by £1/month, and its Premium plan was raised by £2/month.
