That surprise launch date - we were expecting Apple to announce things next month - has been announced by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and it's likely to be correct as this Apple tech guru has a long history of being spot-on when it comes to getting rumours right.
Another important piece of speculation is that it will have the speedy A18 processor tucked inside its body, which means it will be compatible with Apple Intelligence and all the latest smart features such as writing tools, auto image editing, Genmojis and automatic help sorting out clogged up email inboxes.
