New Year's Eve is just one day away, and millions across the UK will be planning how they are going to celebrate the coming of 2025. Whether you are heading to the huge fireworks display in London, plotting a small party at home with friends and family, or going on a boozy night out, you will need to know how regular transport timetables have been impacted by the New Year's Eve celebrations.
National Rail has warned that, on top of the changes to train schedules, there are "lots of planned engineering works and upgrades taking place" on routes across England, Wales and Scotland - meaning it is vital that anyone planning a train journey checks the timetables ahead of time.
National Rail said: "There will be lots of planned engineering works and upgrades taking place during the festive period as Network Rail works to improve the railway. Network Rail carry out the work during this time as fewer people usually travel by train. In addition, some train companies will be making changes to their timetable, and to some train times, to match services to the number of customers travelling.".
There are also three locations where "major engineering work" will be taking place, National Rail added. These are London Liverpool Street from December 27 to January 1, the Cambridge area from December 27 to January 5, and the Crewe area from December 27 to January 2.
