Nicholas Lyndhurt's show - which he described as "heartstoppingly wonderful" - has been axed after two series. Paramount Plus have decided to cancel the revival of the hit sitcom after just two series. In the reboot, Kelsey Grammer reprises the iconic character whilst Nicholas played Frasier's old college friend Alan.
The reboot follows the story of retired psychologist Dr Frasier Crane after he relocates from Seattle to Boston. He moved closer to his son Freddy (played by Jack Cutmore-Scott) - but the show has now been axed by Paramount Plus. There is hope though that another broadcaster will pick up the reboot, as producer CBS Studios are said to be keen to keep it going with another outlet. Prime Video and Hulu are thought to be interested as both have the old episodes of Frasier as part of their library, whilst Paramount Plus will still show the reboot and original episodes.
Nicholas joined the show in season two, and in a recent interview, he admitted he was "very pleased" to be a part of the reboot. Asked recently how he ended up working on the show, he said: "Kelsey and I worked together in Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum. He was sensational. The Coliseum holds two and a half thousand people. It’s the largest stage in London and to watch what Kelsey did eight times a week was just stunning. In rehearsals, he said to me, 'If Frasier ever comes back, would you be interested?' My response was, 'Duh! Of course.' That was in 2019, so it’s been bubbling under for quite a long time – I’m very pleased to be part of it.".
