No Good Deed's 'hidden' cameo explained as series climbs Netflix charts

*Warning: This article contains No Good Deed spoilers*. Netflix's new dark comedy No Good Deed boasts a star-studded cast, but there is one familiar face that viewers may have missed. Starring Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano, the eight-episode drama follows Lydia and Paul Morgan, a married couple who place their stylish LA home on the market and quickly attract interest from three competitive families. Unknown to the potential buyers, the house hides dark secrets, including a murder that occurred three years ago.
Created by Dead To Me writer Liz Feldman, the first episode features an open house scene, where people flit in and out of the Spanish-style property. Eagle-eyed fans will have noticed that one of the house viewers is portrayed by Saturday Night Live star Vanessa Bayer.
Widely known for her comedic performances, Bayer is a "dear friend" of series creator Feldman, who recently revealed that she had bigger plans for the comedian's cameo. She told Variety: "There is a very quick little cameo in the pilot by my dear friend Vanessa Bayer, and in my script, I referred to them as the ‘bougie couple'." Feldman continued: "They are the couple that you aren’t rooting for. You get the sense they have probably seen a bunch of houses, and they don’t really get emotionally invested.
"So I thought originally it might be fun for the house to end up with the bougie family as if to say that this is just a house and it is just an exchange of money in the end… So that’s why I cast Vanessa in that role because we were going to bring it all full circle.".
